Before running an eAuction event it’s helpful to think of different enablers: your category management strategy is done for at least 1 year, you know the potential of each of your sub category and would now like to start using your eSourcing tool. Ok. Please don’t forget some key enablers which support your success.
Defining your categories after your category management strategy you normally know your sub categories and items you can run through an eAuction.
Are your items clearly definable? Is there any service part included? Do you later compare apple with apples? If not clearly describable the event will fail.
Ensure all suppliers get the same specification. Beside of compliance and fairness you avoid thousand of questions.
Train your suppliers either as an anonymous group or individually but get them a good feeling of being supported. If not they may refuse to attend.
The internet of your customer may be slow at the minute you run an event and he is not able to place any bids. Having an eSourcing Manager on your side ensures to continue with the event without any delay.
Though this might be not a important point from the first view it´s still a very useful tool to convince during the next audit. A full documentation of the whole event process will set the ground being compliant and having a closed eSourcing event.
